The classic Samoan dictionary, first published in 1966 at the behest of the governments of American and Western Samoa. A careful balance of traditional and modern concepts has been maintained. Oratory is illustrated through proverbial sayings. Botanical and zoological nomenclature are also included. G.B. Milner is a distinguished linguist and former reader in Oceanic languages at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. He is also the author of A Fijian Dictionary.
